=?windows-1252?Q?email subject??= What Happened to My Subject Line?

“I sent my email newsletter out today and it arrived with a garbled subject line that included “=?windows-1252?Q?email subject??=” in front of my subject with underscores_between_words. What happend to my Subject line?”

Sometimes, when you include certain punctuation, such as a question mark (?) or an apostrophe () in the Subject line content of your email, the email will be delivered with a Subject Line looking something like :

=?windows-1252?Q?email subject??= My_Subject_Line_Looks_Horrible

This happens because certain characters are not recognized as valide Subject line elements by the recipient email client that is rendering it during delivery. Subject lines that are too long according to the standards of a particular email client may also cause a similar problem.

So, if your email Subject lines are getting garbled with something like =?windows-1252?Q?email subject??= in front of them, try modifying your Subject line content in a way that does not include punctuation.

If that does not resolve the issue, please contact the GroupMail technical support team.

“I was trying to activate my GroupMail email newsletter and marketing software license during installation and an Activation Error: Internet Connection Error: Name Not Resolved window appeared. I am sure that I entered the Product Key for my license correctly. What should I do?”

Normally, when you are installing GroupMail and click the Activate Now button after entering the Product Key for your license, your software is activated automatically by our system.

Of course, if you get an Activation Error: Internet Connection Error: Name Not Resolved window, then it would be safe to assume that the automatic license activation did not happen as it was supposed to during installation.

How to manually Activate GroupMail

This particular activation error (above) occurs because there is a Firewall installed that is blocking Port 80, which is the Port that GroupMail uses to register the version you are activating.

How to fix an activation error

There are two ways to resolve an activation error.

1. You can disable your Firewall, ensure you are connected to the Internet and start the installation again, or

2. You can manually activate your GroupMail license.

How to manually activate your GroupMail license

1. Click OK on the Activation Error window

2. Click the link provided to manually activate the license.

“…I am trying to install the latest version of GroupMail but keep getting an error during installation that says that ‘another instance of GroupMail is running’ and asks me to close it before continuing. I definitely closed GroupMail and have checked to make sure it is not open…”

Sometimes, elements of a software program remain open even after you close the application itself.

Solution

When this installation error appears, simply click CTRL+ALT+DEL to open the Windows Task Manager and End Task for any “GroupMail” or “Delivery Console” applications that show in the applications section of the Task Manager.

You should then be able to continue with the installation.

If you continue to have problems after doing this, contact the GroupMail Support Team.

Error 457 – This Key is Already Associated with an Element of this Collection

Email Error Code

Error ’457 – This Key is Already Associated with an Element of this Collection’

This error often appears if you install GroupMail Version 5.3.0116 in Spanish or any other language except English.

Sometimes, it appears when you go through the process of creating a new group — When you go to Groups, New Group, GroupMail Format (Default), Next, Local Group, Next. This is where the Error ’457 – This key is already associated with an element of this collection’ appears.

We believe the reason this error occurs because, in foreign language versions of GroupMail 5.3.0.116, there is no ‘Date Type” field in the default Group Structure, unlike the English Edition, where an AddDate Field is automatically added as “Date Type”.

Solution for Error ’457 – This Key is Already Associated with an Element of this Collection’

Download the latest version of GroupMail from the GroupMail Customers Area.

A workaround for this error if you do not have access to download the latest version of GroupMail is to

1. “Remove” all fields from the Group Structure when creating a group; then

2. Press the Default button on the Group Structure screen to add them again; then

3. Add a Date Type Field; and

4. Create the new Group

If you continue to have problems, contact the GroupMail support team.

Cannot Create a New Message in GroupMail

“I downloaded the latest version of GroupMail and everything installed fine, except that when I try to open the GroupMail Message Editor to create a new message, nothing happens. What should I do?”

1. The first thing that we recommend is to reinstall the software, just to ensure that it installed properly.

If the GroupMail Message Editor still fails to open when you click to create a new message, then it might be a result of a missing Microsoft Windows component, dhtmled.ocx, on your computer.

2. Downloading the Windows dhtmled.ocx component should resolve the issue.

If you continue to have problems creating a new message in GroupMail after doing this, contact GroupMail support.
